Default 93 civic automatic shifter

On my daughters 93 civic, theres a button missing on the shifter and I can't read what it is. Can someone explain its function and how to use it? I have no user manual.

Also the service manual says theres a light in the trunk. I can't find it if there is. Anybody have the location? I'm surprised there are no lights in the front under the dash as well. Kinda a dark car if you lose something at night ....Thx Jack

Ok I guess its called the "shift lock" and is missing the key to use it.

As far as the interior lights....Any other interior lights other than the "dome" light?

Anybody have a 93 CIVIC DX and can tell me where the trunk light is?

the shift lock uses the ignition key, I think it's so you can shift out of park while the engine is not running. I don't know about where light is.

I've got a '95 Civic DX Coupe (5th gen, same as your daughter's) and have also failed to uncover the elusive trunk light, or any potential mounting for it. Since the Honda manual often refers to things blatantly not included in a DX (a/c, power steering, etc.), my guess is that the trunk light was an option included only in the LX, and/or EX trim levels.

I appreciate the replies. Kinda sad there isnt enough light inside the car, maybe I can rob a few lights from a junker and add them in under the dash.

As far as the trunk I guess a lil searching will find an option if even a battery operated one. Guess I hate a dark car when im searching for something. Not to mention the glove compartment. Thx again....Jack
