Default Using p28 on d15b vtec but get p08 maps?

So, everyone says the p28 can be used instead of the JDM P08 to run the d15b vtec, but use p08 maps? Is this a programing deal, or a chip deal?

If it's programing, what do you need?

Thanks

it sounds like a chip thing. like buy a p28 and chip it with a p08 map. But I don't know if that's right. :dunno:

I would, but the d15b uses a one-wire 02. I have a 4-wire for the car that the p28 will be looking for.

I already have a p28 from my d16z, but I have to find the fuel maps.

Thanks guys.

If anyone else has an idea, hooka-me up :hsd:

Use the P08 maps and burn those to a chip if that is what your car uses stock. The chip will override anything from the ECU's built in map and use what you have burned on it instead.

What are you going to use to burn the chip? Do you have a chip burner and rom editor?

You can buy a chip burner and chip kit from www.moates.net. As far as ROM editor, you could use Crome or Uberdata and they are available on http://forum.pgmfi.org as a free download. There are also chipping procedures available there as well. Just get a good soldering gun and solder and follow the instructions.

Thanks schmoo. I've been inside an ECU when I converted a P28 from auto to manual. I went and got a soldering iron that has a pointier tip. Helps a lot.

This is something I think I'll need to do one time. What do you think it would cost to have someone do it? Would the cost exceed buying everything and doing it myself?

www.moates.net offers chipping services. If you have some time and a steady hand, it is super easy to do and will be a ton cheaper than paying someone to do it. I have chipped 4 ECU's before and they all came out just fine. Just make sure you have some desoldering braid to get the solder out of the holes and then follow the instructions.

I could do it for you if you pay for shipping both ways.
