Cliff notes: Didn't make the power we wanted. We have blow by, vtec problem and a bad clutch.

The problems are that we are having are 1. blow by from somewhere, i have to do a leak down test. 2. we have to verify that vtec is working, car falls flat on its face after 5k. 3. the clutch is going. Also the torque curve looks like a mountian range. The best numbers where 210hp 196 ft/tq. at 18 PSI. So im angry at my self that it didn't work right. I followed the directions that came with the SRP pistons. Looking at stuff off of Honda i think that i might have put the 1st and 2nd ring gap in the wrong place. SRP said to put the 1st on the the exhuast side of the piston and the 2nd on the Intake side, looking at honda they say not to put the rings on the thrust points.

So tmrw im gonna to do a leak donw test and Saturday im gonna to look at the Valve train.

Ooo, no good. Yeah, the gap shouldn't be located on a thrust point or right over the wrist pin. That is probably your issue.

Sorry to hear man. I was looking forward to some big D series numbers. Hang in there and it will work itself out in the end.

:edit: Awwww, shit.....I get second page.

i've always used hondas ring gap placement instructions instead of the piston companies. The piston companies always tell u to put the ring gaps on oppisite sides of the pistons because there will be less chance of blow by but that doesn't take cylinder wear into account. I'm sure you guys already know but check to make sure your ring gaps are within spec. Mine are slightly tighter than spec for expansion purposes but check it all out & i'm sure it will be alright. Might want to double check the machine shop's work to make sure that they bored the cylinder's to the correct specs. They are always able to mess up if they arn't paying attention. Hell i've gotten a 4cyl block back before that they forgot to bore cylinder 3 (eric's). IDK how the hell u forget to do something like that but we were flippin when the piston wouldn't fit into the cyl.

best of luck to ya man. If anyone has ever done motor work before, they have gone through their share of hell. Stick it out & it will all be worth it in th end!

Tony

I had to gap the rings( they are JE rings) So will OEM ones still work with boost, if so i might just pick up a stock set.

u can use the JE's but just make sure that you file them to correct tolorences & that you position the gaps to sit at stock spec.
