Possible gsr swap into ek
Holy hell, you have a shot a rebuilt B18C installed for $2k and you're going to pass it up cause it needs F#(@*$% PREMIUM GAS?! :wtf:
Ok, if you are really worried about mileage, keep the stock D-series, no swap is going to beat it. The B18B might do a little better than the B18C, but it's lacking abit IMO. Sure, the B18C needs premium, an extra $0.20/gallon. Figure you drive 15k a year, averaging 30mpg on highway/interstate, you just saved $100 over a year. So say it even gets less gas mileage, maybe you save $300 over a years time, stop going to taco bell or something. Eat Ramen noodles, you're in college, it's a life experience. Or hey, 15 weeks * 5 days * 60 miles * 2 semesters (if you go everyday) = 9k miles, which means you save (if averaging 30mpg) $60 over the school year. Or you could have a much quicker car with better resale, and you'd know the mileage and condition of the engine. Of course if you kept the stock d-series and it averaged 40mpg, you'd save almost $500 a year (at 15k/yr) but you'd also be down 70hp.
Besides, if you're going to pay full price for a B18B swap installed, it's not going to be much less than $2k out the door, it will have unknown mileage, less power, and slower to boot. But hey, you won't have to run premium....
Cliff notes: Don't balk at needing premium, it's a really small difference in the scheme of things and well worth the trade off to have a freshly rebuilt B18C. Or if you're that worried about it, keep the stock engine, keep the swap money and keep getting killer mileage.
Of course this is all assuming the deal is legit....

The EPA quoted gas mileage is the same on the highway (between B18B and B18C). It's all about self control.
It'll be less in the city, but you'll be faster. All things being equal it should be the same on the highway.
Quoted as 8mpg less than d series, yes.
