Thanks for all the replies. You've all been really helpful. Someone mentioned a sway bar; is that easily installed on a Civic like mine? Would it be better, for handling purposes, to invest in that instead of the lower tie bar? I guess there's an advantage to having both?

oh hey if you're interested in a lower rear tie bar, I have a brand new polished neuspeed rear lower tie bar... give me an email @ capyoda@hotmail.com if you're interested.

umm.. IMO rear lower tie bars compliments sway bars.. especially if the sway bar is thicker than usual (19mm +) the lower rear tie bar helps reinforce the subframe and prevents the thicker, stiffer sway bar from tearing the subframe away...

I'm not sure but does the 99-00 Si rear sway bar bolt right up?

I dont think the 97 lx sedans come with any rear sway bar...

aftermarket ones are kinda expensive though...

if the 99-00 Si bolt up easily, u should consider getting it.. shouldn't cost more than 80-100 bucks. (I think they're 13mm)

As I mentioned earlier, I have a '98 Lx, and I put a '00 Si rear sway bar on mine. It bolts right on, and should take you about an hour to install. All of the holes are already there, no drilling required. If you can turn a torque wrench (or a rachet), you can do this. Also, the Si bar is not too thick (I've heard its 13mm, but according to Honda's official site, its 15mm), so you dont' need to get a beaks kit or any type of reinforcement. Its not thick enough to tear your subframe. Another bonus is that you can get the Si bar for dirt cheap. I picked mine up for $80 for the whole set up (bar, brackets, endlinks, bolts, etc), and I've seen them go on Ebay for as cheap as $50. When I put mine on there was a substantial boost in the handling. Of all mods of this sort, putting a rear sway on (since you alreday have a front one stock) is gonna probably yeild the best, most noticable results.

*edit*...if you look at the picture I posted above of my Neuspeed tie bar, you can see the Si sway bar right above it

ah cool.

I saw the sway bar in the pic, but wasn't sure if that was the stock ex's or what not..

I think I'll go along with 15mm, that makes sense.

80 bucks with endlinks too? thats cool.

yeah I think u should get the rear sway instead of other things, that will yield more result than anything else. it will definitely make things more neutral.

I got a 19mm rsx rear sway bar on my 01 civic, its a big up from my stock 12mm ex rear sway.

edit: i just checked the pricings, endlinks cost around 36 bucks each!! ouch. I wonder how you got it for so cheap. that was quote from dealer online anyway. my sister has a 98 lx sedan, I was thinking maybe I'll do that for her.

When I got mine, the kid that I bought it from sent the official parts sheet fron Honda with it. The list price for all the parts was over $200! The endlinks cost just as much as the bar its self does...its crazy. Honestly, I think you should hook her up with it if you can. Check ebay or the classifieds here or any other sites you post on (I got mine off a kid on HT), or even thepartstrader. You should be able to pick it up for somewhere between $50-$100. You get that, and now you don't have to worry about a Christmas present for her

ah she's always "stop messing with my car"

but I'm sure if I slap this baby on she'll notice the much more neutral handling

I'll look around. there's one on ebay right now but I dont think it comes with the endlink.

just surprise her one day. Put it on, and don't tell her...it only takes a little while. Then, see if she notices anything or says something. Its not really messing with the car...it is a dramatic improvement. There is absolutely no downside to it....but then again, I know how sisters can be

i have the neuspeed upper front, neuspeed rear lower, and suspension techniques front and rear sways.. the most difference was the rear sway bar, hands down.. also the most expensive.. i got my neuspeed used from a guy for $60 shipped looks nice and is the most solid upper front you can get, aside from mugen and OEM. i had to drill to install my rear sway.. it is 3/4" thick.

Thanks again, everyone. If anyone knows where I can get my hands on an Si rear sway, let me know. For now, I'll check the places people have mentioned for the parts I requested. Thanks.
