you can't. the cheapest methods of real power are Nitrous-$500 Home built turbo kit-$800+ The popular intake, exhaust, header combo will not get you anymore than 10-15hp on a good day. If your on a budget and want to make the car more fun do the suspension. You don't need to go fast to have fun. If you only have $100 or so, give the car a tune up and some TLC. Actually that's where you should start anyway, tune up.

Nitrous has the best bang/buck ratio. 300-500$ for an extra 55-100 horsepower. Relatively safe, although people who have seen fast and the furious will tell you otherwise.

Well, do you want a straight line car or a car that can also hang in the corners?

B18C1 or C5 swap. I agree, the place to start is suspension.

I'd also seriously consider selling your car take that and your $2500 and get a better car. In the end, it is usually the better way to go.

The B18C5 is a waste of money and about 2,500$ over his budget.

yea DOHC are for pussies The real beast come from turbo Ds
Like it was said in the beggining you can build boost on your set up pretty easily for your car, you ca figure about 1400 for the turbo set up and maybe 600 for a solid d16z6 motor swap, use the left over for a auto to manaul if needed. Take on suspension if the swap isnt needed
