Intake or exhaust first?
My 2 cents..............NOS is good for what it does. Do I own a bottle......no. Do I want a bottle?.........no, at least not yet. Maybe there has been a sort of animosty towards NOS because of what that lame ass movie did for the tuner crowd. Every swinging dick thought that if they bought a tuner and put some NOS in it, that they would be legit. That only comes with time and bloody knuckles. So those of us that have been playing the game for more than a couple of years see these 'punks' (listeners, use term where applicable) come on the scene without a friggin clue as to what to do. My opinion is that the only way to go to make big power is to boost. And then maybe, and only then, would I buy a bottle. To help spool up the huge T-72 on my 4-banger. (alright, so maybe I'll go a little smaller than a T-72)
By the way, back to the thread...............exhaust first.

i will take a BONE stock 2000 si, and you take a bone stock SI.. i get 575 to mod it (used nitrous kit and used slicks) you get a 600 to mod it (no forced induction), and then we will run them afterwards.. and the nitrous car will RAPE ANYTHING you can put together in straight line performace.... this is a fact...
kids.. not quite im 25 years old and was PROBABLY turning wrenches when you were in grade school...

There's too many young drivers out there carelessly using NOS on the streets, and guess what, they either injure themselves or other people. My opinion, NOS is same as a drug, use it once, you'll keep on wanting to use it. Honda motors and trannies weren't made to handle such a huge shot of HP, thus, use it more, kiss your motor/tranny bye-bye. Like others have said, do I have NOS, No, do I want it, Nope, would I like to try it once, sure--but not on my car.
Given the same scenario, $600 for NOS kit, or $600 buildup... I'm pretty sure after a few years of NOS will eventually make you spend more than the initial $600... then you have to include feeding the bottle...etc... we can argue here all day, I don't want to...

I got my intake first. Quicker install, cheaper part, and less obvious mod.
but it doesn't really matter all that much. If I were you, with an EX engine, I'd just get the exaust, work on suspesion, and then save money for a turbo kit.

My reply wasn't directed to you, so don't take things personally. NOS only helps you straight line, but any idiot can drive in a straight line. NOS won't do much for you in an autocross. To my knowledge, I may be wrong, but NOS isn't street legal.

thanks for listening..
Well, since your thread had NOTHING to do with NOS, I'll avoid that topic and stick with trying to answer your question and give you my opinion. The first thing I did to my car (pretty much the only thing so far) was a cat-back exhaust. It just seems like a better thing to start off with than a CAI if you want to add some bolt-ons. You probably won't see a huge improvement with either, but out of the two I'd say exhaust. Just my opinion...
