Going for boost, need suggestions...
Alright so here's the deal:
Recently I got a B16A2 swapped into my 98 civic dx coupe and I am very excited for the end of the summer because I will finally have enough money to get a decent turbo set-up.
First of all, what are your favorite brands for turbos? I don't want to go used, and having never put together a turbo set-up before I don't know anything about the reliability and performance of any particular brand.
Second, as far as building the motor, I want something that will be fun to drive, pulls pretty hard, and still able to maintain a daily driver status. I was thinking new cams/cam gears, pistons, valves/valve springs, maybe new rods and rings. Any suggestions would be awesome.
Finally, what would you suggest as far as ignition/fuel system? I am def going with a FMIC, BOV, and boost controller.
Again, just looking for suggestions/tips. I want this to be smooth running and fun to drive. I am not looking for a rediculously fast car. Thanks guys.

if you are going new with the turbo the brand choice is up to you. i would research that based on what your needs are. as for the mods to the motor, what you would really benefit from would be forged rods and pistons (low compression) rings if they are needed (do a compression and leak down test), and some ARP head studs. This will allow you to turn the boost up higher and inturn create more power from the turbo you select rather than using N/A mods like cams and new valves. yes, those will add power but making the motor able to handle the boost better is a good goal to start with. you should go here www.homemadeturbo.com and read everything. it helped me alot...

In N/A form, yes, they are lame, but boosted, those things can kick out some crazy torque and power.

thats an awsome site, they have GREAT prices. I just bought my new t3-t04e 50trim from them, they had the best price i could find. I would suggest a
to4e for your build as well. The B series is gonna be able to spool it no problem so i wouldnt worry about that. I would say a 57trim with .63 turbine should be perfect, ought to give you a nice meaty powerband. If your gonna build the motor, just do pistons, rods, rings, arps and make sure you have a nice fresh head gasket. You dont need an upgraded valve train because the b16 already revs pretty well. Your gonna need a clutch too, contact www.lsdmotorsports.com for one, great prices and there stuff is backed up by alot of big builds on homemadeturbo.com. Fuel there are alot of choices there, but to keep your options open i would run 580 injectors. You can get them for a good price from percision, and they offer then in saturated so you dont need resistors. bunches of places sell them, but ebay had the best price when i looked. Like everyone else said, go to www.homemadeturbo.com and read up, you should be good to go when you read that for a while

if you really wnat a reliably but very fun car to drive....i would say dont touch the internal of the b16a. with 6 pounds of boost you will be hitting mid 13s easily. mid 13s are very quick for the road especially out of a 1.6 liter motor. not many stock cars do mid 13s.
it seems whenever the internals are messed with (either by me or respectful shops) the motors always need tinkering with from that point on. just leave it stock with a turbo and you will be happy
