Not a stock one. What kind of question is this anyhow? What kind of racing? You can make almost anycar a good race car.

No good can come from this thread.

You can make any car do anything you want so long as your wallet is big enough.

Let me take a stab at it. It seems like a harmless thread.

I've been racing Civics since 1997 when I was first introduced to autocrossing http://home.comcast.net/~mikelouie/autocross.html. The first event I attended I actually watched for a little bit and thought "WOW they are really going slow". Then one of the instructors, whom is a good friend of mine and has won Nationals about 5 times, asked me to jump in the car with him.

After that first lap around the course I was like "HOLY Shizzle!" That was such a rush. THe car was a 1986 CRX Si that had about 100hp. So it wasn't a monster, but the cornering capabilities of that car had my brain sloshing back and forth.

I first started out with a 1993 Civic Ex which I won PA State Championships in 1998 in ST. Then I sold that car for a 1988 CRX Si which I placed 2nd in the Susquehanna Region for ES. I soon purchased a 2000 Civic Si which I ran in STS class - allowing basic bolt ons, suspension work, and street tires. I"ve been running this class ever since. I won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2000, 1st place for 4 years in my region, South NJ and Philly Region. I did 20 events in 2000, 25 events in 2001, 30 events in 2002-2003, 35 events in 2004, and 40 events in 2005.

Last year I purchased a 1991 Civic Si that was setup to the rules of STS. I did 40 events last year and I won 39 of those events. Realize that this 91 Civic Si has only 100hp and 90ft/lbs torque. I event took 1st place at the Northeast Divisionals, 1st place at PA State Championships, and 1st place for the Valvoline Cup (which has over 30,000 competitors nationwide).

So is a Civic good for racing? Of course it is, but don't limit yourself to just Civics, there are plenty of good platforms out there.

Cliffs Notes: Yes you can use a Civic, and CivicSiRacer is a very accomplished autocrosser.

Don't get me wrong there are other forms of racing you can do with the Civic. Like the NASA Honda Challenge, do some hill climbs and time trials.

Everyone thinks there's only one-two forms of racing: drag and drifting. Neither of those are great for a Civic unless you can convert to RWD or pour $20-30,000 to actually become competitive.
