Nopi Nats Sucked
Everyone has there opinion and that's cool.
I drove on the SS tour and saw an Oldsmobile Alero with huge wings, winglets dual "LED" exhaust tips... blah... blah, but I also have video of RX-7's and Supras, M3's and many other turbo, SC and Nitrous powered beasts blowing past us at 110+.
So it was a combination of rice and nice.
I also saw some "eurotuner" stickers on Hondas... what's that about?
I think we can all get along. There's the show crowd... like the truck on bags that dropped to the street with a roostertail of sparks behind him...
And there's the performance crowd... like the stock-sleeper civic with the totally built bottom end and turbo spinning tires from 30mph.
BTW: I can't agree with you more about APC and it's annoying presence at the Nats. I pissed off a few Cavalier and Focuz guys with my modified APC banner that read
"A C P American Crap Products"
made from an APC banner that was in my SS Tour bag.

I thought it was actually a pretty good show even though I was only there 3 hrs. I could of done without the hydraulic jump off crap. To me it's just pointless. Sure there was a lot of "rice", but there was a lot of JDM themed cars too. After looking at 5 of them they all start to look the same anyway, so the rice at least added some variety as well as amusement. Of course the T&A was my fav part. It was cool to watch the Solo II, and dyno contest too.

And P.S. I have a N/A tuned Honda Del Sol that runs faster than 15.8 with a single cam vtec, and I have had a 95 Si that ran faster than 15.8 with a single cam vtec. NO TURBO, NO NITROUS, NO SLICKS, NO NOTHING. Just plain old me, my tools, my garage, my friends, and a Helms manual.

im sure you do post up your slips then cac. im pushing almost 160K miles on this b!tch..why should i bother "hooking up" my single cam? and yeah im sure you have both them cars at 17.
does that helms manual give you 20 extra hp if its in your trunk on raceday? but wait..you dont have to worry, ill be getting my b16 soon enough w/ a nice little turbo for it, and it will be dropped in by me, so what are you trying to say?
Noticed that I said I HAD a 95 Si. If you read correctly you would have not hated on the WRONG SH#*. See worrying so much about a young person actually doing something that you can't even read right. I sold it about a year ago when I was 16. Yes 16, I was doing damage at a young age. I bought the car BONE STOCK a month after my 16th b-day. And I wasn't even close you arguing with opinions. I feel the hatred running out of your blood. And my Si had 148K when I sold it and it was running in excellent condition. And the little BS on the HELMS manual was rediculous. You sound stupid, most people who do their own work and swaps for imports rely on the HELMS manual.
Oh and good luck on your swap w/ a turbo- love the look of a DOHC turbo sitting in a hatchback body.

Anyway... why people always have to go to a show and make fun of stuff? It's a show, not a race. Show cars have show parts. If you choose to call it "ricey" then whatever. If you choose JDM all the way then that's pretty "ricey" too. I don't even see that word in the dictionary.
The best part of the show was the "afterparty" at the BK. Anyone else there? I met some cool heads just chillin watchin the burnouts and the nitrous powered vett gettin busted by the PO.
That made up for the hot, crowded speedway grounds.
"You know you love the power of the VTEC!"

99Civic_love - I didn't mean that as a flame to your statement. Meant it for people who just put down everyone but their own car.
Except if it's a focus, cavalier or sunfire, then feel free to make fun of them all you want!!!

I think the term 'rice' is kind of used synonymously with 'pointless'. For the tuner crowd, when you see someone throw in the 150 lbs of stereo crap with tv's and crap and then floss the widebody kit with 3 level wing, we see it as 'rice'. (aka pointless) Now I'm not saying there is not some pure rice stuff (no matter how you look at it) out there, because we all know there is. (APC flossers know what I am saying)
By all means, I can give props to the guy doing the stereo/show thing and who has a turbo'd B-series shoved under the bonnet. While I may not particularly like what he did to the cars exterior or interior, I'll give him respect and spare him the title of rice. Just my thoughts.

I went to nopi both days and I promised myself I will go next year. It was actually pretty cool. It does get rather boring until some of the events start. They had all kinds of stuff like the dyno contest which was my favorite. Got to see a ferrari dyno, as well as some hybrid tegs and civ's. Also, the second day bikini contest was awesome. Waaay better than the first day. The burnout comp was bad as hell, because almost everyone made enough smoke to hide their car. and 1 out of every 3 cars blew their tire! The vendor area was bad too. Lots of fine ladies and tight cars. That skyline was off the freakin chain! It was sooo bad. Also, they had a sponsored s2k, it was silver with cf hood and other mods. Thing was bad as hell. All in all, the show was bomb. I will attend next year with my ride!
