Default Need help on 1st DIY

I have a honda civic which just got its rear fender smacked by someone(thing). The damage was done to the very bottom of the fender too so I have no idea what the hell hit it. As a result the normal curve of the rear fender as is travels from the back to the side of the car is now a right angle knocked into the fender. I figure I can fix it myself for a few reasons: (1) its plastic, (2) the car shop will keep for at least a week and I need my ride, (3) car shop would want me to change the entire fender probably and (4) I am too broke (and a bit cheap) to repair something of which over 90% is still in perfect condition.

I figure this would be great as my first DIY so any help or suggestions will be very much appreciated.. Thanks.

I'll put pictures up as soon as I get my hands on a digital camera.

I dont think you can pop out a plastic bumper....you might need to just buy a new one.

Assuming your talking about the bumper cover?

Ill post pics up after I get home from work, but in my integra I was stopped at a stop sign and a idiot behind me didnt. He hit my bumper pretty good. I couldnt pop it out for a few days later because I needed to wait for insurance to do their thing. After that I took it to a few places and they wanted $300 to replace the bumper cover +paint and labor, and said it couldnt be popped back out.

So it was a hot day...about 90 or so out, grabbed a 2*4 and from the back just popped it out. Grabbed a hair dryer for a couple min and warmed it up then let it sit in the sun. Within a few days of normal driving in the summer it totally popped back out and looked normal besides the scratches in it.

So my advice is to get a hair dryer or preferably a heat gun and lightly "warm" the plastic up, dont get it hot or it will deform. Then just pop it out. If your picky, a little body filler and repaint and walla.

Yeah, the sooner one tries to fix the problem the easier it is with a plastic pumper. But it does take heat and patience. Had that happen to my crv's bumper when it met a chunk of wood in some guys driveway.

oh, so it ain't broken... my bad. you can take that bumper off and push it out. your paint will take the beating though but you will be able to save that bumper. get a heat gun (slightly hotter hair dryer basicly) heat the back of the bumper up till its plyable. you sould be able to push it out fairly easily once its heated up good.
