Cold air is going to be more work. You're talking about your first project.
Like my Dad used to say... K.I.S.S (Keep it simple, stupid). I'm not calling you stupid. Please don't take it that way. What you CAN do, is buy a cold air system, and if you don't like it, cut the pipe to the length of a short ram. That's what I did. If you don't do something simple first, you're gonna be posting in the "How bad did your first D.I.Y go" thread. lol
lol...thanks guys...i like the K.I.S.S Indeed this is my very first "major" project on my car. I've never taken out my stock intake system so I dont know what awiats. I know its like I keep jumping from one side to the other. Im getting a really good deal on the short ram intake system from ebay (33$ shipped to Canada). I dunno how its gonna work out but thanls alot. the help and adivce is greatly appreciated.
btw, thanks for the pick...it gave me a rough idea. I just hope i can handle the installation. thanks again

Short ram systems have better flow characteristics, but cold air intakes are MUCH better because of the outside air source. Colder air is more dense, creating a better burn. With a short ram you'll be lucky to even gain 1 hp. Cold air you'll probably gain 2-3 hp. Not much at all, but for a first project, i'd go with the short ram system. then if you want, you could buy the extra pipe and make it a cold air.
Get a aem v-2 comes with everything ya need and good instructions, I like mine. Or buy the cheapest one u can find for your car (ebay) and slap a k&n cone filter on it. I'v heard it a good cheep alternitive.
