Default Serious problems with 06 Civic

Hi all,

I’m doing the rounds of the boards because I am at my wit’s end.

Bought an ’06 Civic Coupe LX auto last November and have had nothing but trouble since.

#1 Faulty ODS sensor replaced before recall

#2 Torque converter vibrates between 29 and 39 mph @ 1500 rpm. They told me that there is as yet no fix for this - so basically they said “live with it!”

#3 Oil leak. The car is currently in the shop – they have to drop the transmission to replace a plug where the engine meets the transmission.

This is my second Civic (my wife has an 02 Accord). Needless to say, I will not buy another Honda. I am amazed that a car manufacturer of this caliber can build, sell and SUPPORT a car that is so obviously sub-par.

I am writing this as a heads-up for other Civic owners and to ask if anyone else has experienced any of these problems.

Thanks for listening (it gets very lonely).

I'm sorry you're going through that. I wouldn't want to buy one of the first of a new body style. I guess it's true that you want a few to break first, so they know HOW to fix them.

***Edit***

Thanks for the heads-up, though. That car seems to have real problems.

I haven't heard of any of these issues as of yet, but new models always warrant problems with their first year. Your wives 2002 Accord is probably flawless but back in 1998 when the 6th generation came out, it was plagued with problems as well.

If you're seriously upset about this, contact Honda of America and voice your complaints. They seriously take an ear to anything you have to say and would hate to lose a customer and might be able to accomodate you a little better.

My buddy bought a 2001 Acura CL when they first came out and it was an absolute nightmare. He voiced his complaint to Honda of America, and with many apologies, sent him a brand new 2001 CL Type S (an upgrade) free of charge (his CL had 31,000 miles on it).

I'd also look into the lemon laws surrounding your state. Don't give up yet though, quirks are just that, they tend to work themselves out.
