I haven't heard of any of these issues as of yet, but new models always warrant problems with their first year. Your wives 2002 Accord is probably flawless but back in 1998 when the 6th generation came out, it was plagued with problems as well.

If you're seriously upset about this, contact Honda of America and voice your complaints. They seriously take an ear to anything you have to say and would hate to lose a customer and might be able to accomodate you a little better.

My buddy bought a 2001 Acura CL when they first came out and it was an absolute nightmare. He voiced his complaint to Honda of America, and with many apologies, sent him a brand new 2001 CL Type S (an upgrade) free of charge (his CL had 31,000 miles on it).

I'd also look into the lemon laws surrounding your state. Don't give up yet though, quirks are just that, they tend to work themselves out.
