Default Controller for VTEC?

Hey guys i have a question for yall. I was talking to one of my friends and he was telling me that is friend has a 97 civic just like mine, but with a b-series engine, and that when he gets out of first gear, that he puts his lights on, and the VTEC kisks in. I thought that the VTEC automatily kicks in when u get to a certain rpm point? Can someone try to explan this? thats guys.

your friend doesnt know what hes talking about. you cant engage vtec just by turning your lights on. it engages at a preset rpm when the oil pressure is normal. vtec controllers just allow you to adjust the vtec engagement point.

edit: actually, now that i think about it, would the vtec controller allow you to turn the vtec on/off at will? probebly not, but its a question thats pertinent.
