Default Leaking Distributor

I just changed the oil (5w-30 synthetic) and now it seems that i have an oil leak by the distributor. Is this common and should i worry or just switch oil. I'm thinking that if i switch oil it might change the vtec engagement or cause it not to engage at all.

Am i right ?

oil will not effect your vtec engagemnet unless you are to low or to high on oil level. the grade wouldnt effect it. i am meaning the most common grades...5-30...10-30...5-20 etc... whenever you switch to synthetic oils ...those oils are thinner. better protection and or less friction on moving parts. which is why people use them. the thinner oil finds little cracks better in rubber seals bc it is thinner. there is a rubber seal on your distrubutor. replace thast part and you should be ok. take the dizzy off with the three bolts...and find an o ring on the very end of the dizzy. make sure you mark where your dizzy is in coralation to the mounting points before you take it off. magic marker or scraping the metal with a razor helps.
