Default someone please help me...car overheating problems...

okay...lets see about 2 weeks ago my car started to over heat and i noticed whenever id move my car and then park it and then move it again...there would be a small spot where i'd been leaking antifreeze...well it contiunes to leak slowly like that and i keep having to put antifreeze in more and more because the car starts over heating so much...i take it to the mechanic and the guy says that my radiator cap was busted and that was the reason my car was leaking antifreeze...well i went and bought a new one and put it on earlier and then took my car out tonight and it STILL is over heating and i dont know what to do...does anyone know what it could be? and if i bought a new radiator would that maybe fix the problem??

also sometimes when my car is running just sitting there or even going at slow speeds the RPMS will jump up and down anyone know what that could be?

RPM's are jumping coz u are low on coolant & it's not making it's way through the IACV like it should.

you probly still have a leak. Check your coolant hoses

Yeah. That's right. PLUS.... It could be a leaking water pump OR a blown head gasket. I'd take it to a radiator shop and have them tell you. First thing I think they'll do is take off your oil cap on the valve cover to see if there's any coolant where it's not supposed to be. Happened to me. I decided to just spend the $30 at the local radiator shop to find out WHAT was going on.
I hope it's not your head gasket, but you'll save yourself a headache by having them look at it.

Huh, my coolant reservoir is pretty much empty, I thought my RPMs were jumping because of my header leak. I'm gonna check that out.

not the "reservoir" but air pockets in the system will cause the IACV to react funny when they go through there.
