As for a book... buy a Haynes manual or Honda factory service manual... you will use it over and over. Its by far the best "part" you can buy for any car.

My insurance on it is $200 a month, i still owe $800 on it, but i'll be able to pay that off when i get my tax returns. It's going to cost an incredible amount of money to fix it (that i dont have.) I just dont know what to do.

$200 dollars...ouch. I pay less than that per month for 2 people and 2 cars.
Geico is pretty reasonable, check 'em out.

Get your tax return, pay it off, sell it for $1000.
Now you have $1000 to go get something else. You'd be lucky to get something that ran for that much.
I say fix it, one thing at a time. You'll learn something, and feel some pride.

Actually, I have bought 3 cars for under $700 that both ran and passed inspection easily. ONe was a 1987 Honda Civic Wagavan, and one was a 1989 Nissan Pulsar.
