I just bought a 98 civic ex and am wondering how to program the keyless entry system. I don't have a factory radio and all the instructions I have found have explained the process with the factory radio. If anybody knows what I can do or if I can even do anything at all please let me know. Thanks.
Why does the factory radio need to be there for keyless entry to work? Why would honda tie in the door locks to the radio? For some reason that makes no sence to me...

well one fact being that the radio is connected to your antenna which would be needed for reliably getting the signal from the remotes. Im sure theres a way arround it and I could figure it out if i had a circuit diagram of the factory radio. unfortunately honda isnt so kind when it comes to circuit layouts.
hey dude. You need a special harness for that. Some factory radios use the keyless entry system through the radio for security purposes. They sell a harness that adapts that but i think its kinda expensive. better off just getting an aftermarket alarm
