Uh... Yes. But make it worthwhile. Get the stand-alone EMS, fuel cell, IHRA certified roll cage (helmet + padding of course), 5-point harness and lexan windows while you're at it.
If you're looking for security on a daily driver, there are better solutions than this, but this is definitely a cheaper alternative if you couldn't give 2 shizts (or have it on a racecar). Remember that in addtition to your stereo, your factory ECU also has backup power so it can remember its long-term and short-term fuel trim adjustments. Removing power from the ECU makes it reset to defaults (which is why it clears check engine lights). Not everyone lives at sea level, and it takes it a little while to get dialed back in to running economically in your climate's conditions and altitude.
