Default 96 civic 3dr, water leaking in making puddles!

Ya so my girlfreind and I both have EK hatches and ya we both have water building up and forming puddles in the spare tire compartment, it makes the car stink, and seems very musty inside.

Anyone know ...

1. Where the water comes from?

2. How to fix it so our trunks can stay crispy dry!?

Thanks in advance.

i dont know where it comes from...but you should have about four or five plugs that you could pull to let the water drain out. should be circular in design....a little bit bigger then a quarter. it might be more hidden by looking like factory molding (caulk like, and painted) but they are there.

I was wondering if it was comming through the seals on the trunk lid, but i dont think i can really find out unless i actually tear all the plastic paneling out and sit in the back while someone sprayed water on my car with a hose, I didnt want to go through all that so i was hopeing that someone had experience with this problem..

I did a search on the forums here and all i found was integras with the same problem but apparently their problem stems from bad tail light seals? any help would be greatly appreciated.

here's how you find out: pull some carpet, your spare cover and whatever trim is easy to get off, go to a high-pressure car wash and watch. I know water can come in around the rear glass in EGs, so thats probably a good place to look.

go throught a automatic car wash or have your girlfriend (since she has same problem) get a pressure washer from a car wash place. just statrt spraying and watching. take out interior for ease of lookng at seals
