Ive revved mine past 8. no problems. not suggesting that you do, but I am saying that they can take it.

There was a magizine i read a while back that talked about a hybrid trans, that used CX gears and SI gears

that was an old article, I remember reading it as well.

Something about using the 2nd and 3rd from the cx/vx trans as the 3rd and 4th in an SI trans, and a hybrid of ZC gears as well.

Supposedly the ultimate D series transmission using OEM parts

If you have the parts available its just as easy as a rebuild. Its just switching around parts while you have the trans apart I think.
