haha. in my opinion you would want the ex or si transmission. it has short gears for good acceleration. and still a top speed of around 140mph on 14" tires.

yeah, you can hit high speeds on the highway in a stock civic....but you are gonna have to have a nice setup if you are hitting 140 mph traps in the 1/4. depends what you want, and where you plan to use it.

oo... I thought 140mph was the best the gearing would get even built. engines go boom once they're hitting too high of RPM on the last gear... reaching top speed.

using this...http://www.mysportscar.com/tools/topspeed.htm
and my tires (185/65/14), and assuming a 7200 redline

Si (hatchback/del sol)----158 mph
Si/Ex (2 and 4 door)------168 mph
lx/dx --------------------176 mph
cx/vx--------------------220 mph

thats all assuming you have a d16z6 or y8 and/or can safely rev to 7200.

my 140 mph estimate was using a si HB tranny on my b7 block which can only rev to 6400.

but thats a fun site to play around with anyhow....i use this link for gear ratios...http://home.cinci.rr.com/mistab0ne/tranny.html

have fun.

Also assuming you are driving in a vacuum with no friction.

That's funny, my CX before the swap topped out at 89 mph, in 3rd gear, going downhill (technically on 3 cylinders).

In terms of top speed, couldn't you simply check your speed at 1/2 redline in top gear and double that for your gear limited top speed? I think I calculated one time that my B18C1 swap would run out around 140 mph with that system.

the first sentence of that website link is:

Calculate the theoretical top speed of your car neglecting rolling resistance, wind drag, and other variables in real world physics.

so yes....those were THEORETICAL top speeds.

I think the highest I've reved was 7,600RPM in my civic ex... so my top speed should according to those figures would be 177mph
