did the machine shop find anything wrong? Did they not mill the bottom of the head because it was flat and didn't need it? I'm putting my step moms head back on in the morning myself.
bottom was straight & didn't need any work so they left it alone.
well i got rid of all the noises & what not..
last problem is that the car is bucking around 2-3k rpm's & runs normal when at idle.. very strange. I checked the TPS & it's fine. fuel filter was replaced about 5k miles ago, so i don't think thats the prob.
it's running Accel plugs, i'm gonna swap them with some nice NGK's for a test..
any suggestions?

bucking can be caused by a faulty top dead center reading or any other crank position reading thats faulty but then again it should throw a code something like a code 8. this same thing happended on a civic of mine had to replace then functioned perfectly depending on models the sensor is in the distributor and u have to replace the whole thing. car would bog at 3k rpm's
pulled plugs last night & they were covered in oil.. very odd for a freshh head gasket job!
did a compression test & 180's across the board, so i highly doubt it's anything with the head gasket & the rings i'm sure are fine with those compression numbers.
i'm thinkin possibly valve cover seals around the spark plug holes but it just seems very odd that it's doing that.
i'll have to get back in there tonight & see what else i can come up with.. any more suggestions.

how is the fuel pressure?
I'd replace the valve cover gasket around the spark holes like you said and see if that helps the oil problem. Are they old?
Another thing you might want to try is swapping out the ECU for a known good one. You must have one laying around with all of your B18B's. Probably won't help the bucking problem, but if you have one laying around it may be worth a shot.
Also, how does the intake manifold look? Could it possibly have some build up in it? Maybe try running some seafoam through it.

i probly an an ecu i could test in there but that just doesn't seem like the problem, no codes or anything.
plugs are only a couple thousand miiles old. (Accel plugs / Accel wires)
valve cover gasket seems fine but i'll throw some other gasket rings around the plug holes & see if it cleans it self up. I'm tryin to get this whole thing done & perfect condition b4 monday.

I would almost put money that its the valve cover grommets. Unless they are stiff and brittle just clean them up really good and put some non-hardening sealant on them.
Bucking, I would guess, is vaccum related
