Default Single Din CD player for 98 EX

Whats up guys,, I Just bought a single din cd player from a 96 honda civic, its supposed to fin in the slot in front of the shifter. Well Im putting it into a 98 civic and i was just wondering two things..
1. Is this the correct one? (are the 96/98 civics the same)
2. Is it an easy thing to do, (any advice)
Im doing this for the girlfriend, so any help is welcomed!

1. yes, they're the same (2 of my cousins have civics, 96 HX and 98 DX)
2. it's a pain. you have to unscrew the lower dash by the steering wheel, the console by the shifter, the cup holders, and if i remember correctly a screw behind the glove box. you also have to loosen the screw that holds the stock radio in place so that you can pull it out a little bit and plug the cd player cord in the back of the radio. plus you have to remember where all the screws came off of. there's a whole bunch of screws and you might forget which came from where.

it will fit...just a word of warning...if the EX has keyless entry and the CD player is aftermarket, the keyless will not work since it is wired through the factory head unit.

but there are two wires you can splice to keep it (forget which ones) or do what i did- ordered a y-harness from autotoys.com which allows you to keep the keyless entry and dome light. just seemed cleaner for me.

thanks for the info, it is definetly an OEM honda cd player so hopefully there will be no problems with the keyless entry. So White civicsi, you say its kinda a pain huh. Well if anyone else has any more info cool, but im sure i can do this

www.installdr.com has a good article on how to get to your audio system.

why did you get the oem cd player??

its down near teh cupholder so its very difficult to change the cd
1. when you're driving
2. when you have cups in teh cuplholder

i have it and the only reason i dont change it is that it sounds fine for my needs and that its hard to see from the ouside, theft deterrent : P
