its always nice to take on (at the track of course ) a sol or civic you almost certainly believe you can crush but in the end usually crush you. Then, when you line back up to go at it again and he pops the hood and you see his sohc beast boosted, and it makes you have a weird expression on your face like this :eh: ... i will never give up hope for D's or B16's (because both are the underdog in the class).

ya, boosted d's are fun. but id rather just build a b for big boost and be done. once my motor is done, im gonna take a lil break and just play with it, maybe get another project car.

I must say that a b series on high boost, cranking out a load of torque and power to the wheels would be awesome! However, Im a D series Cadet and its SOHC-T for me

D's are the SOHC engines. D16Z6 and D16Y8 are the vtec versions. The number represents your displacement. 1.6L

B's are DOHC engines. B16A is a 1.6L DOHC vtec motor. B18C is 1.8L DOHC vtec motor. B18B is a 1.8L non-vtec.

I am more of a do-it-yourself kinda guy, I think if you want to spend a little extra money, rebuild. That way you know what is in your engine, and that you are 110% sure that everything is perfect. Plus you get to customize your engine, forged pistons, high performance connecting rods ect.... and the list goes on. If you are a need-it-now- kinda guy, I would stick with the D series but the B series can be fun. Check out http://www.jazzproparts.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=1 I believe, or something close like that for some nicely rebuilt B and D engines, for about 1500-2500 pending on what you want, and shipping. Enjoy

Your link doesnt work.

Im not trying to call you out, but just because you "build" your motor yourself, does not mean it's gonna be 110% perfect. You better know what the hell you are doing. Granted, you can actually see what is going on, but doesnt mean a thing. You take your motor to a reputable builder, he will do it right. Also, either way you get to "customize" you motor w/ forged internals, all you have to do is buy them and have them drop em in. Unless however boreing, honing, sleeving, etc is necessary.
