ALso could be motor mounts going bad.

Describe what happened in your scenario to pinpoint it to the cv joints please. My problem could be the exact same, but I'd like to hear another experience.

Also, I've recently noticed it happens also when normal driving and not just when braking. Say, for instance, if I was to take my foot off the gas pedal and then tap the pedal (somewhat jerk the car fowards), it would make the same noise. I also notice it slightly when I turn. I don't remember the direction I was turning, but it happened then as well.

Noise is definitely coming from the front of the car.

Thanks everyone for the help thus far.

Any possible way I could check the CV joint myself rather than taking it somewhere? Because I'm not 100% sure if it is on the drivers side or passenger side.

Usually, your CV joints won't make noise unless they have had cracked open boots for a few thousand miles. Get under the car and look, or turn the wheel and look. The other thing is that if these are replacement axles, maybe they sold you repacked bad joints. It's happened to me before I knew better.

To check them while driving. Come to a stop, turn the wheel and accelerate. They will make the most noise when you are pressing on the gas and not coasting or braking. They make no noise when going straight because all the joints parts are static relative to eachother when not turning.

Replaced the transmission about a month ago, so I know I haven't put on many miles even if I did crack the boots. I was also real careful when reinstalling the axles. And as far as I know, these are the original axles from the factory. It's a 1998 Civic EX.

And you say that they wouldn't make any noise when going straight? That's when I hear it usually. I really haven't heard much of it while turning, however, it does happen.

This weekend I will crawl underneath the car and see if I can find anything unusual. Maybe reinstal the axles again or what not.

Thanks everyone for the help thus far, and keep the suggestions coming. I'll keep listening
