Before you go start asking newbie questions, go back and read ALL threads up to and including 1-1-2003.

Internals alone don't make your car faster. Adding air & fuel make your car faster (turbo, S/C). Changing out the internals only allows the engine to handle the added air/fuel. Simply changing them out alone does nothing.

And for the record, you do not need internals if you change intake/exhaust.

Not true. Ever heard of different compressions ratios? How about Higher revs?

Again, simply going from cast to forged internals buys you nothing in terms of increased compression ratio. You don't increase compression unless you change the displacement of the engine. But that involves a whole level of additional complexities (fuel, air, software, etc.) that just aren't worth it. A turbo is way easier.

What? Im sorry, but I wouldnt even CONSIDER going turbo without beefing up my internals. To me, it just doesnt seem like its worth 1. The danger of ruining a block, or 2. the limitations posed by the stock internals.

I agree with you that when adding a power-adder, that forged internals are a better way to go. In the original post, the poster said he didn't want to go F/I and asked what else could he do. Someone else said change out the internals, and the intent of my reply was to say that changing out the internals on a N/A car and not adding F/I was complex, expensive, and provided negligible gains.

the danger is more than just ruining the block, and whats so bad about the limitations a stock block poses?

heres 303whp on a 1.8l LS stock block.

i myself put 205whp on a stock LS block.

So say CTR cams, crower valve train, and higher compression stock bore pistions. Won't give you credible gains? It's certainly more justifiable than spending 800$-1k on an intake/header/exhaust.

Read what you just quoted compared to what you said.
