Default Is there any uh, tips or anything to line the tranny back up?

Well, I haven't gotten much done today at all. All I did was torque the flywheel and clutch bolts and did the throw out bearing. Then I spent a good 5 hours trying to jack the tranny back up to the engine. I can't get the tranny to stay on the jack. Maybe I'm having such a hard time because my friends are asses and are to lazy to come and help. I can get the jack under the tranny, but I have to hold it by the starter hole, and jack it up with the other hand then I almost drop it, lower the jack and continue these steps for 5 hours. I so wish I had a hoist so this would be a breeze. Is there like any tips to get the tranny to stay on the jack without holding it?

get your lazy freinds over and get them to help for 10 minutes, get one bolt in and send them home. Use a 6-pack of beer for bait. Make sure the clutch is lined up under the pressure plate.

like he said make sure the clutch is lined up. I didn't use a jack. I set it on a cinder block so I could reach it from above.(note: the hood was off my car) Then I called upon the powers of Greyskull and lifted that sucker by hand and joslted it around till it went on. It took me about 3 tries before I got it.

Trial and error...keep going, it'll go on eventually.

Hmm.. a cinderblock. That's not a bad idea. It figures, that I can lift the tranny easily, but because I'm so short its hard for me to hold the tranny on the jack and pump the jack at the same time. I'll get it tomorrow. Thanks for the ideas.

I failed miserably, No matter how hard I tried to get the tranny to go on I couldn't. I figured out how to jack it up perfectly to the point where it don't even need to hold it, but because the engines at an angle, it's being a REAL BITCH to get it on. I gave up for today, I'm gonna kill it tomorrow, I'm gonna rent a hoist for a day, I'm gonna make those tranny splines cry.

Don't rent a hoist. If you go to a good rental place they will have special jacks for trannies.

for some reason my clutch kit didn't come with a alignment tool last time. if you don't have one...stick your head up in there and look at it real good and make sure it's centered.
