Default Yep one more Problem

Ok some of you might remember awhile back I had some AC problems with the womans 92LX. Well the problem is still there, no big deal were selling the car. The problem now is when you put the car in gear it dosent want to stay running! Starts fine idles fine in P, but when you put it in D,, sputter sputter stall. Could it be the Idle being set too low? I'm cutting the AC belt tonight to see if there is just too much drag on the motor from that.

Please, if you have any ideas fire away!!!

Thanks all!!

you could just loosen the adjustment & take the belt off rather than cutting it so that you could re-use it after you are done if thats not the problem

what is the motor idleing at / how many miles / did it jump time / does it need a valve adjustment really bad / fuel filter cloged / ect.

could be many different things.

**** Update

Ok so I went checked out the car after my first post and I'm thinking the therm may be stuck!! Allow me to explain and lemme know if I'm wrong.

Car ran great when cold, drove it 2 mabye 3 miles. Came to a stop, when I accelerated, almost nothing. So "AH-HA!!" now we can diagnose the prob. I pull over and pop the hood I'm looking for this and that, any vacuume leak, ect. Then the fan kicks in and I notice that the air comming off the Rad is cold! I get in the car and see the heat is way up into the top 1/4. Get back out of the car and I hear a hissing noise, there is fluid comming from either the therm housing, the coolant line to the TB or ( gasp) bewteen the block and the head!!! Chance in hell that after replacing the thermo and coolant this car will run worth a crap?? Or Am I looking at a new head gasket?

Go get a compression test done. That will tell you if its the headgasket or rings. Are any of these places wet with collant or most from the steam?

Ok I changed out the Thermo and refilled the coolant. Now when it gets to operating temp the fan not only works, but there is hot air off the rad. ergo, thermo was stuck. Problem is, when hot, it's still sluggish as hell off the line!! WTF!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I'm not saying " hey I dont screach 2nd" I'm saying it won't get out of it's own way!!! Help fellas!!

If the AC compressor drys up it will put a huge load on the engine, which can cause it to stall.

Not rechargeing the AC or not using the AC for long periods will cause the ac compressor to dry up...

solution would be a new AC compressor..

clean up those leaky fluids too, a stuck thermostat will cause over heating... hot air coming from fan and radiator is normal....

I also find that i had to replace radiator about every 120,000 miles... they just go bad after that long..

My 93 civic has 320,000 miles...
all miles made by me. replace radiator 3 times...

This car has the EVIL AC system FROM HELL!!!!

One of my best friends and a ASE master mechanic totally replaced the AC system, and still the damn thing wont work, but yes the AC comp belt is comming off in effort to normalize running. Thanks tho!
