If you have the $$$ to spend, get the GSR. The registration and insurance will be higher, but you have a better platform to build upon. However, if you want a car that is relatively more rare AND will save you some $$$, get the SI. Later on, you can build a B18C block and swap it in the SI. This way, you will have the better flowing head (B16) and the better torque block (GSR). Then, since it is built it will be well suited to turbo. Plan on replacing tires often and having a lot of fun doing so.

My insurance for a GSR was $3 more per month over a Civic EX.

couldnt agree with that more.. imo when buy a modified car it was usually 'beaten' more then if it was a stock one. thats jus my $0.02..

but you are going to be the driving the car so it should be your decision so dont let anyone elses opinion sway you twoards one car if you like another, even though you asked for opinions.. so heres mine: i like the si, lower miles usually means less problems and im just a b16 fan

i hafta step up and defend the gsr! not fair that you ask a question like that in a civic forum! i love my gsr, stock it goes just fine with endless possibilities for upgrades. 99k you should know is nothing for a honda so go with what you want, but the gsr is a nice car with much more agressive styling that the bug eyed civic...

Any integra beyond 93's isn't my cup of tea. I just don't like the style.

I'd go with the 00 Civic Si, it has less mileage, and it's the most popular civic that's been sold in the US. I like the high reving nature of the B16. If the GSR had less mileage i'd go with that. Both have great engines.

Choosing between a GSR and Si is a tough one. Assuming both cars are factory stock the Si woudl be the better car to buy. A friend of mine raced a GSR with his Si and beat. If you want the stronger engine go with the GSR's 170 hp but if you want a lighter car with 160 hp go for the Si. On the matter of wich car you can apply more mods to will be up to you and what your prefernces are. Both engines have unlimited amount of mods to them, e.g. TURBO, STROKER KITAND BORE & STROKE, or you can be more reasonble with your $ and shop around for a turbo.
