Default Internals question. I might have the wrong parts...

Ok, when speaking of pistons and rods, what do the terms: "bushed full float" and Press pinned mean?

My mechanic said something didnt look right with the parts I got. The pistons came with a pin that goes through the small hole on the rods. I was told that a machine shop has to press the pin to make it fit but the pin can just drop through the piston and rod. There also doesnt seem to be any way of locking the pin in place. There is no bevel/slot that a lock would fit in. I have seen some U-joints that have a pin that is kinda like a "C" clamp that wedges itself on a lip to hold stuff in place, but it seems there is nothing like that on these pistons.

ur pistons are not floating pin pistons. u have to get the pins pressed into the piston/rod combo, therefore u dont need retainers, the floating ones need them b/c they just drop in.

so would you say I need new pistons or rods or both? Can I just buy retainers? Should my old pistons have them?

u can keep those if u want u dont need retainers. If u wanted floating wrist pins then u got the wrong pistons.

I read that floating wrist pins prevent piston slap.
