Default D16 Engine Rebuild

Hello I currently own a Honda Del Sol 1.6 Liter SoHC. I want to rebuild my engine but also add more HP on to the engine while rebuilding the engine. SO does anyone have a list of parts or websites that would help me to get to my goal. THanks alot.

What are you looking to do? Turbo or N/A? What is your budget? Give us some more info on what you are looking to achieve such as whp numbers, times, etc. and we will be able to assist you more.

You have quite a bit on your plate. A lot to think about. For the money spent rebuilding the d16 to get reliability and power, it would probably make 1/2 the power you would make using the money to swap a bigger motor in and modifying it. Maybe it's not your cup of tea, just an idea to think about. Either way you're going to have to pull the engine out.

Well, obviously your not going to get as much power with a built D over a built B, but parts are a lot more expensive for B series. Also, IMO you will have a lot more fun with a boosted D. Virtually both motors have no torque to begin with and very little whp difference. So that means it really comes down to what your budget for parts is, and if you want to be known as having a DOHC over a SOHC.

A b18b has pretty nice torque for what it is and a full swap costs like 400$ more than a d16. But I guess we'll have to wait for him to tell us his motives before we keep throwing ideas at him.

I guess what i was referring to was a stock B16. The B18b and C1 both have pretty good torque to start off with.

How many miles are on the D? What kind of compression does it have? You best bet for power with a D16 is to boost it. Here are some links that will help.

Turbod16

Homemadetubo

You can put together a kit for under a grand, and you car will run like a bat out hell. once boosted you can build the motor provided you dont run to much boost and blow it up.

Good luck,

Austin

well with a motor with mileage like that i would say do a compression check first before investing that kind of $$ into a turbo setup. i, myself, am planning a turbo on my civic with 144k on it and have to check some things beforehand. first and foremost im changing the timing belt and water pump, coolant flush, and compression. im preparing with every detail i can think of so i dont make a mistake that costs me an engine.
EDIT: oh, and if you have similar mileage on that clutch i would replace that, i have to do that as well. also going to either replace the fly wheel or get it resurfaced. i think it may be glazed.
