Where should I be shifting on stock internals?
You should shift before the redline, The guys that built your car put the red bar on your tach for a reason, so you dont float a valve or spin a bearing, In regards to the 350Z he must have not been paying attention a 350 would SSSSMMMMMOOOOKKKKEEE a stock civic. I had a d16z6 in my civic it liked to be shifted at 6200 rpm even tho it redlines at 7200 when i shifted it was in the powerband for greatest acceleration.

yea 350z might not be fast but they still would take a basically stock civic anyday and hey lets keep the racing to the tracks and especially.....why waste all that gas on trying to race something that u knew would leave you in the dust?
I have a super 3l33t civic. It runs on l33t fuel that costs 2 cents a gallon and gets 3 bazillion miles to the gallon and does 0-60 in approximately .000065463 seconds.
Why do you think I raced him? Because I don't like pompous rich assholes, why else?

I have a great job, but I don't go buying FOTM overrated cars with the money I earn. It was a stock Z, obviously driven by someone who doesn't know much about cars and doesn't really care about cars except as a status symbol. You can infer a lot from a person's car, and someone like that doesn't deserve a Z.
