I've got a D16Y6 I think (1998 civic EX 2dr 5spd). Where should I be shifting? Redline is right around 7k on the stock tach, but is that really the stock cutoff?

If I were headed to the track, I'd probably get a bigger, more accur8 tach.
I want to know because I just barely lost to this 350Z coming back from lunch and I was wondering if perhaps I was shifting too early.

Your car looks so much like mine. Same color, same drop even probably. What keeps you from scraping bumper? I keep on leaving parts of my bumper on the pavement if it's uneven or around really bad/uneven/steep turns.

Well, when it comes to daily driving, that is all preference. When it comes to the track, there is a certain point around your red line (it is hard to tell exactly what RPM due every car beign different and tachs not being accurate. But there is a point when your car is reving so high it looses power. Find that point and shift just before it. Practice makes perfect when it comes to racing.
And just before anyone else says it. Keep it to the track.

your stock tach is perfectly accurate, you dont need a huge tach unless your going blind. AS far as when to shift, daily grind id say at 3, but at the track, its really something you have to feel, kinda just have to get a good idea where your car makes the best power.
