here ya go... to anyone who is interested...

 

ran into a big problem. i went to my dad's today, & got in my car to move it... and it wouldn't start. the battery was drained. threw a jumper pack on it, and it fired right up. it did this twice. this happened only after wiring in the tach, any ideas what's doing it?

 

Maybe you have it wired as a constant flow. So the tach's never shutting off.

 

i have it wired to the stock extra tach signal wire, an auxilary port in the fuse box for my lights, and a power and ground. should i possibly add a switch to the power wire? it wouldn't be that tough.

where is your power wired to?

 

it's run straight to the battery. i'm thinking of wiring it w/ a quick-cplice connector into the power wire on my CD player. that way, it would use the ignition as a switch and would be off when the key is out.

 

there you go...u solved ur own problem. the direct wire to the battery is going to drain it.

 

ahhh... that's what i thought. i wasn't sure... but assumed since the car wasn't running, there'd be no draw on the battery. thanks for the help.
