Default vtec filter

I have a D16y8 SOHC vtec engine in my 96 EX sedan. Yes...i know....it's a D-series, but hey, its still an OK engine. Anyways, is there a vtec filter on the engine and how can I clean it? i don't really feel the vtec engage. Thanks guys, any info is appreciated.

there is no vtec filter. you can clean your air filter to make your car run a little better if its dirty.

edit: i just read a thread and it talks about a vtec filter. now im curious as to if theres one or not.

The vtec solenoid has a filter. Remove the solenoid and you should be able to clean it.

And, you aren't supposed to feel vtec, so it is probably normal.

thanks schmoo( :reechy: ) for clearing that up for me and the thread starter.
and if you're wondering where the solenoid is, its right on the rear left-hand corner of the head, right next to the valve cover.

VTEC runs off oil pressure so if your oil level is low you could be loosing power too

The filter doubles as the solenoid gasket. It's just a wire mesh screen with rubber O-rings built into it.

You don't have a D series do you?

On D series, vtec isn't hardly noticable. It's not supposed to be.
