Default del sol turbo info

i currently drive a 99gst running 17psi..pretty fast but i am wanting to revert back to my first car and get another sol. I am tired of roasting every honda that revs at me with is folgers can and would like to pull it sleeper style now. I have the money for a B16 swap and complete street reliable turbo setup (4-5k?) I have heard that the stock axles are shit on hondas...should i upgrade to a 300whp setup? Also Will the B16's tranny holdup to ~8lbs of boost (including aftmkt clutch) or will i need a flywheel and more?

Thanks for any help, i am new to turbo hondas

stock axles will handle 8psi just fine. The tranny with upgraded clutch should handle the boost well also. You should however, consider an b18b swap, will get more power out of it then the b16

If you want to go sleeper style, pull that motor out of your GS-T, and drop it in a '94 Hyundai Accent or '91 Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback. 'shaves about 1600lbs. Nobody will see that ass-whoopin' coming. You can build that whole car without gutting your Eclipse for under $4000 if you have the time and skillz, and easily run 11's. Of course, the Sol might get better gas mileage.

B18 would be ideal unless you already have the DelSol VTEC model to start with. My guess is that you won't on that budget.

You've come to the right place. Welcome to HAN.

yeah i have thought about doing that to, but i know that the r/s ratio on the B16 is near optimal (174.6?)...which well lessen the chance of me breaking a rod and ultimately destroying a B18....i dont really know to much about boosted hondas though ive just been doing some research before i buy something, plus a B18 will be more money i think. Let me know what u guys think. Keep the comments flowing and btw what kind boost can a B18 handle?

Thanks in advance

I run stock axles at 23 psi. Boost pressure has no bearing on axles whatsoever. It's power and how you apply that power from the clutch to your wheels that will effect your axles. Preloading will lessen the stress placed on the axles. My tuner runs a 600 whp C1 on OEM axles. He runs 10's. h:

b18b swap is considerbly cheaper then a b16 swap. Once you beef up the rods on it, it can pretty much handle what you throw at it but most people run about 10 psi

It sounds like your a little misguided on your info here. B18Cs are more expensive than B16s...HOWEVER, the B18B is a separate matter, because it's about the same cost as a B16, maybe a little less. What's important to note though, is that the B18B does NOT have VTEC.

but the b18 B has more torque, VTEC isnt that importent when your boosting, and if you wanted it, could easily swap in a vtec head

true...

...but if you swap the head for vtec and you have a turbo... wouldn't you have to reset the vtec to be safe?
