Default unsteady rpm problems

When I haven't drove my car for a day or so it will starts fine but the rpms like to jump around all over the place. When I let it idol it likes to almost stall but won't, the rpm's drop to 0 then back up to 1500. When I am driving it and it starts doing that the rpm needle goes crazy, I give it gas it does nothing. Also if i drive it around for a while it stops doing it, then I let is sit for 2 or 3 hours and its doesn't want to start right away.

Does anyone know what the hell is going on?

- I installed a MSD ignition into it about 3 months ago and it ran fine for a while, it just started to do this.

- I replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump thinking that it wasn't getting enough fuel to the engine butt it still does it.

that's different. i had a similar problem after i installed my throttle body. a honda tech said the ecu goes into, what he called, a "learn mode". he said it will remap it's own fuel curves, and firing times & such. dunno if it's true, but shortly after, it started running great, and i felt a difference. could it be a situation like that?
