hey guys my 1998 civic ex feels like it bounces in first and second gear when its in for a period of time. Also when i take off my car feels like it bounces and when i floor it in any gear. I dont know if bounce is the right word but thats kinda what it feels like to me. any idea what the problem is?

 

is it actually moving, or is it struggling to accelerate? i mean does the power actually cut in or out, or is it the car itself?

 

the car its self feels like it is bouncing in the front end but at the same time when i hit it, the car doesnt pick up right it feels heavy i guess and the car is stock besides intake exhuast right now.

 

hmmm. is there anything that leads up to it? heat? high humidity? rain perhaps? it seems to me like it's misfiring and running on 3 cylinders. thts what happened to my sol. my distributor basically threw a fit and died, and the result was similar to your problem. try cleaning your plugs, check the plug wires @ both ends for loose connectionsor moisture inside. i recently got H2O in a plug boot, which cause a lot of trouble

 

thanks man i live in key west right now so that could explain it, the thing to me is that it runs fine in the higher rpms it doesnt feel like a miss to me but im gonna check it out my conections asap it almost feels like the gears are messed up or it has bad tranny mounts or someting!!!! kiling me when my car bounces lol it feeels like im driving a stick for the first time that kinda of bouncing does that sound weird to you guys

 

that does sound kinda odd. could be a number of things. juss look for anything that seems loose or odd. i am unsure if it isn't a misfire of some kind. possibly tranny, maybe a halfshaft or bad cv joint? not sure man

To be honest, I have no clue what caused it.

 

i only have issues when it's wet... but i think that's from water getting in my intake. lol, that's one way to fix a problem

 

sorta sounds like ur letting off the clutch too fast

 

also a possibility. my problem happens when i'm cruising, not rigt when i release the clutch. maybe that is you problem though dspencer
