Default Maintance Required

I just bought a 1997 civic coupe, and the manual says that it needs to be taken into a dealer for service every 7500 miles driven, but the miles reader for maintance above the odometer only counts up to 999 miles, how can i know exactly how many miles i have left until it reaches the 7500 miles mark?

Thanks!!

Take your current odometer count (not the trip meter) add 7500 and make a note or something.

there is a maintance required light directly below the odometer if i am not mistaken. and a lil button that you press down with the tip of a key to reset. it goes from Green to Yellow to Red as it gets closer to 7500 miles

actually, I don't think the maintance required light came in the 97's... or at least not in mine anyway. But if you just bought the car, it is a VERY good idea to take it into the dealership and have them do maintance, and to inspect the car to see what kinda shape everything is in, and to see what could use some replacement. Being a 97, I would suggest a timing belt if it has not been done recently.

just get maintanence done now, and start fresh. keep track of the miles from when you do the maintanence, then do it again @ 7,500. good luck

Actually they recommend changing the oil every 7500 miles. I choose to do it every 5K with Mobil 1 synthetic. If I was using regular oil I would change it every 3K. All depends on how long you want your cars engine to last.

How many miles are on your car? Post the mileage, and I'll tell you the next service interval, and what's recommended.
