actually, I don't think the maintance required light came in the 97's... or at least not in mine anyway. But if you just bought the car, it is a VERY good idea to take it into the dealership and have them do maintance, and to inspect the car to see what kinda shape everything is in, and to see what could use some replacement. Being a 97, I would suggest a timing belt if it has not been done recently.
