Default D15B v.s. D16Y8

Okay, as you guys know, my engine died. I ordered a replacement.
I ordered a D15B, a JDM SOHC VTEC engine.

What was delivered to my shop was a D16Y8 SOHC VTEC engine, which comes from a 2000 Honda Civic and has 40,000 miles on it, rather than the JDM D15B that has 50,000 miles.

I know the D15B is a 1.5 liter, versus the D16y8 having the 1.6L.

Should i keep the D16Y8 motor? or insist on the D15 ????
i need to know ASAP !!!1

you could insist you get the d15, since thats what you ordered, but the y8 isn't a bad engine. There's hardly any difference, other than the .1 litre of displacement.

honestly, you'd probably be better off with the y8, assuming something broke and you'd need to replace a part. I have a friend with a jdm b16 in his '99 sedan, and when the alternator went out, he had to source one from japan.

well if you have an OBD2 car then just stick with the Y8. you'd have some issues with the wiring and sensors and shit with the Y8 if your car is OBD1

id prefer the y8 to a d15b. the d15b i believe has weaker rods, and findin parts for it might be kinda gay, but almost all d series stuff is interchangable. id be happy if i were u, y8 is better in my opinion

the d15 does have weaker rods, as raiden said, and it's gonna suck ass to find aftermarket ones. maybe a jdm shop might carry something, but i've never seen an upgraded aftermarket rod. major parts like that are hard to find. you can find mostly anythnig you need for the y8... go with that.
