omin is right. use a lot of compound. otherwise, it'll dry on the buffer and scratch the clear.

Alright so I just finished spraying on the clear coat. I used Krylon crystal clear. It doesn't look all that glossy though and i sprayed on about 8-9 coats - the whole can. Will it look better when it dries or should i have sprayed on heavier coats?

no more than that... wet sand it with 1000...... then buff it with something from 3M.....a compound used for brigtning......my dad has his own custom body shop...... so yea i know.......maybe u shoulda had them prepped with real automotive paitns and products......i dont think u would hyave run into this but if the spray paint works then fine.... make sure u sand all over....dont stay in the same spot for long or ull go thru the material....same with the buffing.....both will bring out brightness,.. good luck

however, if it's spray can clear, 1000 is too heavy. you will have to go over it with a lighter grit. i've had bad experiences with spray can and wet sanding. your paint may never actually appear bright if it was spray can clear. it is just designed to give a glossy first appearance, it will not look like automotive paint no-matter what. i would know. what you could do is find a friend or someone who paints, and have them put a light coat of clear on the parts. do that, wet sand and buff... your parts will shine. good luck

Here it is:

There's pretty much no shine to them, but they still look good.

well, that looks good enough. you can barely notice a difference. if you're still unsatisfied, have the painted with automotive clear, sand that and buff it. that'll make a world of difference

Thats not bad. You should clear coat them. In the light you will be able to tell if they are shinny or not. ( Depending on the view of the car )

Spray clearcoat sucks arse. Get gas on it and it's gonna melt off.

You have to use the professional stuff if you want to get that smooth look.
