oem civic foglight switch breakdown
does anyone know what each pin in the oem foglight switch is for? or where i can find out? im trying to use it for my fog light switch, but i dont have the wire harness, so i was just going to wire it up myself. has anyone done this before? what pins did you use for what? thanks.
which oem foglight switch? ek or eg? if i understand what i think you are trying to do, (use the oem foglight switch with your afermarket fogs) i don't think you could use the ek switch; it is not a on/off posistion switch, it just turns the relay on and off.
...i could be wrong though... i have the jdm ek fogs, and the switch doesn't 'click' in and out (like the hazard button) when you press it you can hear a little 'click' from the relay, like when you turn on the rear window defroster... (and the switch is still in the same posistion doesn't stay down)

I would agree with the above in principle.
Two of the pins will be for switch illumination and another two will be to supply the relay with power. Providing you wire up whatever switch you use like this no-one will know any better except us!

ok sorry i didnt post sooner, i went out there and figured out how to do it. i dont know the difference between an ek and an eg. its a 96 hx 2 door. the oem switch i have does click in and stay in and then push it again, and it comes out. and i can hear the relay kicking in.
i just ran the power for the illumination light on the switch to a certain pin, then the ground to another pin, and the fog light(i guess relay wire) to another pin. so i only used 3 pins instead of all 5.
my fogs stay on when i have the high beams on, so i guess the other 2 pins have something to do with that, but im not worried about it. it works, and thats all that matters. but thanks for all the help anyways guys.
