Default Engine Swap For Civic EX

Would it be possible to swap in another Honda engine, say from an Acura RSX, into the Civic EX? Or maybe even a more powerful one?
I like the look of the Civic coupe, but not the anemic engine.
How much in labor would it cost?

Has anyone tried this?

Would the transmission need to be upgraded? Brakes?

Can it be done with either automatic or manual?

you gotta provide us with more info about the car before anyone can tell you about possible swaps. What year Ex is it? If its an Ex prior to '01, you have a plethora of swaps to choose from. If its a '01+, you're a little more limited.

Default Civic EX Engine Swap

It would be an '02.
I don't have the car yet, just wondering if it would be worth doing?

Thanks.

save your money, pick up a 2000 Civic coupe (which look a hell of a lot better than the new ones imo), and then spend the money you saved on a nice b18c or b18c5 swap.

Don't buy a new car to rip out the engine, that is ridiculous. I mean, anything is possible with the right about of money. If I were you I would find a good 99-00 Si. Then just sell the B16 out of it which you shouldn't have much of a problem with if the price is right, and throw in any B or H series motor.

I agree right now it would be very expensive to do a swap. The way that CARB laws work is that you can not have an engine that is older then the car. So your only engine choices would be the new Si/base rsx engine, Rsx type-s, and Crv engine. But at this point those would be very expensive to find. There is also the problem that those all spin clockwise and the D series engine spins counter clockwise. Maybe i have that backwards ,but they spin in different directions and sit on different sides of the engine bay. I guess that is where Hansports or any new swap kits come in handy. If you are sure that you want a '02 then even the normal bolt ons do not give a lot of HP. That is because the placement of the first catalytic converter. What you could do is upgrade all the other parts that you want:wheels/tires,brakes,apparence etc. To make you happy till swaps ,a turbo, or supercharger are cheaper you could give it a 50 shot or so of nitrous. That would help with your power problem while keeping all the stuff that you like. Well that just my 2 cents

I suppose you could swap a 2002 prelude enigne, which techinacally would be easier but would be just as expensive.
