Default checking off the list

well i have recently decided to go the route of a turbo d instead of an engine swap so im making a list of things i need to get done within a year to prep my motor for boost. first up is the water pump and thermostat. second will be the oil pump. im also going to replace the timing belt somewhere in there becaue it is original. im going to be running a low boost set up but upgrading stock internals sometime in the future. is there anything off hand that i should add to the list that is necessary in preping the engine for turbo?

Well if you're running low boost, you should be fine without engine work unless your D is in bad condition. What compression numbers is it getting? And how many miles?

havnt done the compression test yet but im pretty confident she has good
compression. i know thats a vital piece of information to know, i think i might do one this weekend if i get the gauge. mileage on the od is 136k but i treat her nice, bought as a leased vehicle at 2 years old 36k and done fully synth oil changes evere 3-4k.

yeah, those are included in the turbo kit im looking at. i was more looking for what people do to prep a motor for boost. not the actual items needed for a turbo kit. thanks anyway tho.

biggest problem with d series is headgasket issues, so make sure its a healthy one to start...
arp head studs would be a great upgrade too

i was thinking about some studs since i was thinking about pulling the head to do the gasket. i decided to do the gasket because i was pulling the valve cover to adjust the valves. DAMN RABIT HOLE! one thing always leads to another, and then another. pretty soon ill be like 10 grand into the car for mods. addicted
