Default B16a2 Timing belt issue

When I let rev my car there is a loud pinging or to say ticking noise comeing from the top by the cam gears on the time belt. Also I can streck on the back end nearest to the firewall, the belt at total or about 3/4 inch, back 1/3 and forward about a 1/3. Is the noise mean that my timeing belt is possibly a little to loose or is it my value prings to ajusted correctly?

3/4 inch isn't too loose IMO.

You are supposed to have a little bit of play there along the front side in the middle.

Ticking, I would say valves need adjustment, or if it's a higher mileage motor, maybe the LMA's are wearing out

you are only supposed to have a 1/2 inch of play in your timing belt.. meaning if u were to take the front portion of it & twist it.. it will only turn 90deg. u might want to check the tensioner..

also like bambrose said.. you may be in need of a valve adjustment, it's not a hard job.. just tedious & time consuming.. if your not comfortable doing it.. i'd take it to a shop. Best of luck to ya.

another thing I thought I should mention... If the belt was too loose, you'd hear a weird sound at idle, like the belt flapping kind of... and also your idle would be slightly missing
