Default TPS or IACV

97 Civic EX with CAI and exhaust. Idle fluctuates from about 750-1200rpms when A/C is on. I checked the coolant level, its full. Also the A/C freone level is high. Would this be the idle air control valve or the throttle position sensor? Thanks in advance

Or a vaccum leak, or air in the coolant.

D@mnit, now you added two more to the list of possible problems. Seriously though, the coolant I have pretty much ruled out because I had the cooling system flushed recently, but could be a vacuum leak. With the randomness of the fluctuating I am leaning more towards a part going bad.

Using the advice from a guy at h-tech.com I took the IACV off and cleaned out the little wire screen with some carb cleaner, had a lot of carbon-like buildup on it. The carb cleaner only took off some and the problem is still there. Any other tips or am I just screwed and gonna have to shell out like 4 bills for the parts.

you say you flushed the coolant recently.. did the problem occur before flushing or just after?

to add something else to your list, you can check the fast idle thermo valve as well. search for the methods of correcting it

After you do all that, and it still does it, take the radiator cap off, wrap a bunch of paper towells around the mouth, start the car, and let it run for 2-3 mins - this will "burp" the cooling system, eliminating any air trapped inside

i know its also silly, make sure the throttle cable has a little play in it only if all those good ideas fail

I took the IACV off today and cleaned the sh!t outta the little screen with carb cleaner. The little screen looks brand new. When started it still did the fluctuating idle but once warm it stopped. I dont know if this had anything to do with me moving the idle adjust screw to reset the idle. (My dumbass neighbor messed with it) I will post more info after driving tomorrow.
