Im thinking about getting a Zex system for my 1994 del sol vtec. I have headers, cold inbtake, and the pipeing done. I wanna run a 50 shot. do i need to chnage anything to my engine/tranny before putting it in, or am i pretty good for the shot i wanna run?

all depends on milage.

 

131k....it feels strong though for its mileage.

 

a 50 shot is out of the question. As you dont know the condition of the rings and valves , that milage is like hitting 30 in life.

 

I would bore it 60-70 ,put gapless top rings in it, factory replacement berrings by color code per journal. And new exhaust valves and springs and 3 angle valve job just to deal with the nos. Replace the synchros if you have a MT, and put a stage 3 clutch in it.

 

not only it handle a 50 shot but that little bit will add quite a bit of horsies.

 

50 shot should be fine with no problems as is and ZEX is a 55 shot.
